Teaching
Title: Teaching Date: 2018-7-8
In my teaching, I help my students build critical and creative thinking and develop lifelong learning skills and problem-solving strategies—all of which will serve them in an ever-more-uncertain future. To achieve this, I practice discussion- and inquiry-based teaching, and I guide students through completing a combination of written and creative assignments. I hope to contribute to my students' whole-person education, in the spirit of cura personalis. (What can I say? I'm Jesuit-educated.)
In the 2018–19 academic year, I am teaching the following courses:
- Introduction to Information Systems Info102
- Introduction to Human–Computer Interaction Info110
- Users, Services and Resources Info506
- Introduction to Web Design for Information Organizations Info552
- Information Ethics Info679 (Syllabus)
In the past, I have also taught:
- Social Aspects of Information Systems Info215 (Syllabus)
Beyond information/computer science, my teaching experience includes English-as-a-second-language instruction in classrooms and one-on-one, as well as tutoring in grade school social studies, English and Spanish.
